Core Functions:

  •  Experience in teaching Creative arts, Visual art and Design.

English Home Language Teacher

This leading English-medium South African state boys' school has a vacancy for a fulltime, permanent English Home Language Teacher. (School Governing Body position with effect from 1 January 2019)

Minimum Qualifications and Experience for all positions:

  • Appropriate teaching qualifications are essential. Candidates must have a minimum qualification of either a four year B Ed degree or a suitable degree with English at second year level and a PGCE. Preference will be given to candidates with English 3.
  • Valid registration with SACE is essential.
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience.
  • Candidate should be able to teach all Grades from 8 to 12.


Main Responsibilities:

PERSONAL ASSISTANT TO PRINCIPAL
The position is available with effect from 1 January 2019.

Pretoria High School for Girls is looking for an experienced and energetic Personal Assistant to perform a variety of office duties in support of the school and provide personal secretarial support to the Principal and Deputy Principals. This position consists largely of coordinating and participating in the clerical, record keeping, secretarial and administrative support tasks of the Principals office.

Skills and Experience:

  •  Maintain the Principal's professional calendars
  •  Work effectively in a school office setting characterised by frequent direct and indirect interruptions caused by unstructured interactions with learners/ staff and parent population.
  •  Assist in the management of school office functions such as maintaining records, report preparation.
  •  Experience in using databases. Experience with SMART+ would be an added advantage
  •  Possess integrity and high levels of confidentiality
  •  Demonstrate excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken
  •  Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, including a pleasant and courteous telephone manner
  •  Mature, empathetic and professional in dealing with learners, staff and parents
  •  Flexible and strong ability to adapt to change
  •  Understand the significance of paying attention to detail
  •  Efficient typist
  •  Punctual and independent self-starter who can make good use of their initiative
  •  Professional conduct.

Qualification Requirements:

  •  Minimum of three years secretarial experience, preferably in a school environment.
  •  A relevant tertiary qualification in office management and/or secretarial administration.
  •  Excellent computer skills in MS Office and other programs
  •  Ability to build positive working relationships with learners, staff and the parents.
