ESTATE MANAGER

Wynberg Boys Junior School has an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified, service driven candidate in the position of an Estate Manager.

The successful incumbent will be responsible for managing the school’s maintenance portfolio of the school grounds and buildings and for ensuring a safe and secure environment.

VACANCY - ESTATE MANAGER

Minimum requirements

Experience: 

  • Minimum of 10 years as an Estate Manager or similar facilities management role
  • Estate or facilities management within a school or learning institute environment would be advantageous.
  • Oversight of contractors in relation to the delivery and management of construction projects

Knowledge and skills: 

  • Strong organisational and problem solving skills with excellent attention to detail 
  • Must be able to multitask, prioritise, and work well under pressure to meet established deadlines
  • Solid track record of negotiating skills with excellent interpersonal and communication skills as the role will require a lot of interaction with service providers and external clients
  • Leadership skills with a demonstrated ability to motivate teams
  • Knowledge and experience in applying health, safety and security protocols in a large, populous environment
  • Must display at least an intermediate level of financial acumen with an understanding of procurement
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Ability to anticipate and identify possible obstacles and implement preventative plans
  • Must be proactive, solutions orientated and performance driven

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • General oversight of facilities and amenities, including buildings, grounds and fields while managing all associated health services and safety and security protocols
  • Assessing, appointing and managing contractors (repair and maintenance) and monitoring that they perform within their scope and service level agreements.
  • Leading and motivating the Estate Management team and working closely with the Estate Foremen to deliver efficient and effective maintenance and cleaning functions 
  • Maintaining any inventory and asset registers while ensuring that all inventory and assets are fit for purpose and available for scheduled maintenance projects. 
  • Liaise with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) maintenance directorate on any general maintenance or special projects.
  • Lead measures and initiatives which will positively contribute to the enhanced safety and security of the school.

The School is looking to employ a creative, outgoing Head of Marketing to market the 5 sections of the school, namely: IMPS. Junior Primary, Senior Primary, Parkinson House Boarding Establishment and the school as a whole.

Job Description:

  • A passion for creativity.
  • Event organising - roadshows, exhibitions, golf days, end of year ceremonies, dinners, staff lunches, etc.
  • Networking with existing parents.
  • Social media planning and execution.
  • Website updating - WordPress.
  • Communication channel management - Whatsapp, D6, Social Media and Website.
  • Ability to design in CANVA or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Creative writing for social media, website and adverts.
  • Photographing the school environment, sports and other school events. 
  • Support other departments with creative needs - Boarding Establishment Parkinson House, Mudrat Shoppe, Blue Heart Foundation and educators.
  • The ability to prioritize; multi-task and work under pressure within a school environment.
  • The ability to work in a team environment.
  • Manage the school's parent association - MAG.

Requirements:

  • Suitable professional qualifications and appropriate educational experience.
  • No criminal record – valid police clearance certificate.
  • Drivers license.

EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGIST / COUNSELLOR

Educational Psychologist / Counsellor

The School is looking to employ a passionate Educational Psychologist / Counsellor to support the boys as well as the staff

This position is available in Term 3, 2021. It is a full-time position of 5 days per week during school hours.

Job Description

  • Emotional Support to primary school learners (4 years old to 15 years old) and educators.
  • Designing mental-health intervention and prevention programs. 
  • Implementing counselling and psycho-education (individual and group). 
  • Researching new methods to improve children’s wellbeing. 
  • Mentoring and supporting teachers of high-risk children.
  • Guiding parents in facilitating their child’s emotional progress.
  • Compliance with the relevant legislative framework and ethical conduct in line with HPCSA and other relevant regulations; the ability to maintain strict confidentiality and appropriate boundaries in all matters related to the role. 
  • The ability to prioritize; multi-task and work under pressure within a school environment. 
  • Effective communication and counselling skills.
  • Integrity and professionalism. 
  • A positive, patient, and resilient personality.
  • The ability to work in a team environment.

Requirements 

  • Suitable professional qualifications and appropriate educational experience. 
  • Professional registration with the Health Professions 
  • Council of South Africa; and CPD compliant. 
  • No criminal record – valid police clearance certificate
