  • Masters-level degree in Psychology

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • General oversight of facilities and amenities, including buildings, grounds and fields while managing all associated health services and safety and security protocols
  • Assessing, appointing and managing contractors (repair and maintenance) and monitoring that they perform within their scope and service level agreements.
  • Leading and motivating the Estate Management team and working closely with the Estate Foremen to deliver efficient and effective maintenance and cleaning functions 
  • Maintaining any inventory and asset registers while ensuring that all inventory and assets are fit for purpose and available for scheduled maintenance projects. 
  • Liaise with the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) maintenance directorate on any general maintenance or special projects.
  • Lead measures and initiatives which will positively contribute to the enhanced safety and security of the school.

to commence duties as soon as possible.

The successful applicant will take full responsibility for the entire network infrastructure of the institution, both on-prem and in-cloud. The ideal incumbent will have the relevant IT qualifications and competencies coupled with 4 years ‘hands-on’ experience in installing, configurating and maintaining an enterprise level network and supporting infrastructure.

Key Areas and Competencies:

1. Network Infrastructure 

  1. The physical installation, configuration and maintenance of enterprise level network infrastructure, including switches, access points and cabling.
  2. A solid understanding of VLANed networks, and an ability to configure core and edge switching devices within this environment so that all end-point devices can interface with the network appropriately.
  3. Effectively interact with suppliers and consultants and be able to manage and co-ordinate external parties in relation to maintaining or advancing the network.

2. Server Infrastructure

  1. The physical installation, configuration and maintenance of servers in a Microsoft Windows environment, core and GUI, physical and virtual.
  2. Solid working experience with DC’s, AD, DHCP and other key server roles so that these services can be appropriately installed, configured and managed.
  3. Understanding of and ability to manage how on-prem servers interact with in-cloud platforms, namely Microsoft 365 for Education and Google Workspace for Education.
  4. Effectively interact with suppliers and consultants and be able to manage and co-ordinate external parties in relation to maintaining or advancing the server environment.

3. Cloud Infrastructure 

As an education institution, both Microsoft and Google cloud platforms are in place for staff and learners. These platforms are fully integrated with the on-prem infrastructure.

  1.  Maintain the syncing mechanisms between on-prem and in-cloud services.
  2. Configuration and management of cloud platforms.

4. Security and Compliance Infrastructure

  1. Solid working experience with configuring and maintaining an enterprise level dedicated firewall so that traffic is interrogated and routed appropriately and effectively.
  2. Configuration and maintenance of the on-prem NAS backup devices and their replication to cloud.
  3. Daily review of reports from multiple systems, on-prem and in-cloud, to ascertain service delivery and to pro-actively identify issues.
  4. Assist the POPIA Compliance Officers with meeting data integrity and privacy conditions.

5. Team and User Support

  1. Ability to work as a team, co-ordinate technician’s daily tasks and train them where necessary.
  2. Effectively and efficiently respond to and resolve escalated issues from technicians.
  3. Ability to interact with users on all levels, adjusting commentary/interaction accordingly.

Overall, the successful applicant should:

  • have a solid technical background
  • be able to transfer knowledge of one brand to another; eager to research and gain knowledge and skills when necessary
  • be proactive and take initiative to suggest ways to improve across all key areas
