RECTOR’S OFFICE

St Stithians College is a prominent and transformative South African school; one that inspires excellence and makes a world of difference. This is a position and role of critical strategic importance for the continuing journey of St Stithians as a College embracing diversity and promoting social cohesion. This journey is important for the future sustainability of St Stithians as a progressive and future-oriented school.

The purpose of this role is to add systemic and programmatic leadership, enabling a proactive approach, and will work as a resource with the school-based Directors of Transformation and as a business partner with the College executive. This full-time position will ensure that St Stithians remains at the forefront of diversity and transformation in the schooling sector, and in the implementation of Strategy 2025 and the College’s Statement of Intent and Purpose.

The Rector invites applications from suitably qualified educationalists with exceptional and inspirational leadership ability for this position which is available from January 2020.

The requirements are:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification coupled with experience in educational management roles in a complex environment 
  • Strategic thought and execution
  • Policy formulation
  • Effective and collaborative leadership style
  • Relationship building with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Institutional conversations and facilitation
  • Conflict management and resolution
  • Curriculum shaping and influence, based on best practice
  • Managing diverse projects, from conception to completion
  • Excellent command of English (verbal and written)
  • Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours as and when required
  • Promoting the values, Christian ethos and mission of the College, as well as participating in the broader life of St Stithians College

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Design and manage a College integrated programme for diversity and transformation, advancing strategic priorities.
  • Lead campus wide projects and participate in selected campus committees, specifically Campus Diversity & Transformation and the Council Transformation Committee
  • Engagement with and promotion of positive relations across the College’s stakeholders
  • Review of institutional policies and practices.

GIRLS' PREPARATORY

Our primary intention is to educate and empower girls, raising them in ways that are responsive to the challenges unique to women. Deputy Head - Girls' Education AND Deputy Head - Academics

In appointing a full time Academic Innovation & Research Director, the Girls' Preparatory has an exciting opportunity to re-design its executive. We are therefore looking for a Deputy Head: Girls' Education whose main responsibility will be to focus on the holistic and future-focused development of the girl child. Social-emotional well being, pastoral care and discipline will form part of this portfolio. We are also looking to appoint a Deputy Head: Academics who will oversee the delivery of the academic programme. Our vision is that the two Deputies will work in a synergistic way with a unified focus on the unique opportunities and challenges of educating girls in our time.

Job Requirements:

  • A suitable professional qualification and appropriate educational experience, particularly in girls' education;

  • The ability to foster and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders; within the Girls' Preparatory, across the College and in the broader education community;
  • Previous experience in a leadership position within an ISASA school would be advantageous;
  • A high level of organisational, managerial, administrative and communication skills;
  • An understanding of budget management and financial planning;
  • A willingness to work within the values, Methodist ethos and mission of the College as well as to participate in the broader life of the school.
  • Proof of registration with SACE;
