Pretoria Boys High School is a traditional boys school located on an 85-acre campus southeast of the city centre. Established in 1901, it is one of the oldest schools in the province. With an enrolment of around 1500 pupils it is the largest boys’ school in South Africa. Plumber Assistant (School Governing Body post: full-time permanent position with effect from 1 April 2021)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Qualifications and Education Requirements: Grade 12.
  • Experience Requirements: 5 + years of related experience.
  • Valid Driving Licence: Code 8 and upwards.

Role and Responsibilities

The candidate must be an experienced plumber.

Maritzburg College seeks motivated individual to lead the financial management of the School. Reporting to the Headmaster, the incumbent will oversee both the day-to-day and strategic operations of the Finance Department. As a senior member of the College team, the incumbent will be required to represent College on various internal governance structures as well as externally to stakeholders, business and the community at large. Experience in an educational environment will be advantageous.

Position Purpose: 

  • To plan, manage and co-ordinate and oversee, financial management and statutory reporting, cash flow management, funding, contract negotiation, administration, human resources, business planning, projects, asset management, risk management, facilities management and procurement. Grow and develop your staff.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

  • To lead and manage the commercial and financial functions of the school and BE to achieve growth and sustainability, in line with the strategic plan. To manage the financial, reporting & statutory responsibilities of the MC&OBM Trust. To assist the Director of College Business with contract administration relating to funding and sponsorship.

Minimum requirements:

  • CA (SA)

Maintenance Supervisor

Maintenance Supervisor


  • Suitably qualified candidates with relevant technical tertiary education 
  • Must have at least 5 years’ supervisory experience in maintaining a facility such as a school/campus; golf estate or housing estate 
  • Undertake and supervise plumbing, electrical, carpentry, welding, painting and other repairs/maintenance to buildings 
  • Effectively and expeditiously attend to maintenance requests in a timely manner 
  • Inspect facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance 
  • Ensure adherence to quality standards and health and safety regulations 
  • Source, control and purchasing of materials and equipment 
  • Prepare daily and weekly maintenance schedules and allocate accordingly 
  • Be willing to participate in the Catholic Ethos of the School

Key Attributes and Competencies: 

  • Strong technical and working knowledge of mechanical units (HVAC), electrical, building maintenance, carpentry, plumbing and safety 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work professionally and collaboratively with others 
  • Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing 
  • Knowledge of health & safety practices and regulations 
  • Ability to solve practical problems using reasoning skills 
  • Excellent organisational and problem solving skills
