Get Ahead College, a co-educational, independent school, within Get Ahead Schools, is situated in Komani (Queenstown) in the Eastern Cape. THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an exciting time to join Get Ahead Schools as the new Principal of Get Ahead College. An inspirational educator and leader, the Principal will provide strategic leadership to the newly drafted strategy - Vision for Excellence 2025 - driving our mission and ensuring long term sustainability. Reporting to the Executive Head and collaborating with a motivated and committed staff team, the Principal will oversee the operational and strategic aspects of the school, ensuring academic excellence, social emotional learning and a community of care for students and staff. The appointment date is 01 May 2021.

KEY LEADERSHIP ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

• Actively support, model and promote the Christian ethos of the College. 
• Support, promote and implement the four pillars of the Vision for Excellence, namely Innovation Mindset, Skilled for Life, Learning for All and Workplace of Choice.
• Provide innovative and authentic leadership to all staff and students.
• Manage and strengthen relationships with external stakeholders.
• Critically evaluate academic progress and intervention programmes. 
• Drive enrolment, maximise retention and execute strategies to reduce student turnover.
• Initiate and support staff professional development. 
• Financial management. 
• Implementation of an after school programme focussed on 21st century skills.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED: 

• Relevant professional qualifications and SACE registration.
• A minimum of 3 years progressive school management experience in the position of Principal or Deputy Principal. 
• Excellent interpersonal skills and strong team player. 
• Excellent command of English and able to effectively communicate and interact with all stakeholders. 
• Expertise to contribute towards strategic financial planning.
• An understanding of the legislative framework of independent schools.

COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR

Maritzburg College seeks motivated individual to lead the financial management of the School. Reporting to the Headmaster, the incumbent will oversee both the day-to-day and strategic operations of the Finance Department. As a senior member of the College team, the incumbent will be required to represent College on various internal governance structures as well as externally to stakeholders, business and the community at large. Experience in an educational environment will be advantageous.

Position Purpose: 

• To plan, manage and co-ordinate and oversee, financial management and statutory reporting, cash flow management, funding, contract negotiation, administration, human resources, business planning, projects, asset management, risk management, facilities management and procurement. Grow and develop your staff.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to: 

• To lead and manage the commercial and financial functions of the school and BE to achieve growth and sustainability, in line with the strategic plan. To manage the financial, reporting & statutory responsibilities of the MC&OBM Trust. To assist the Director of College Business with contract administration relating to funding and sponsorship.
